Commonfund Names A. Nicholas De Monico as Managing Director and Group Head, Marketable Alternative Investments

Former Citigroup Managing Director Brings Extensive Hands-On Experience to Management of Commonfund's Hedge, Absolute Return and Index Plus Programs

WILTON, CT, November 25, 2002 — Commonfund, a leading financial manager for nonprofit institutions nationwide, has announced the appointment of A. Nicholas De Monico as Managing Director and Group Head, Marketable Alternative Investments, Commonfund Asset Management Company. He will be responsible for managing Commonfund's marketable alternative funds of funds, including its hedge, absolute return, index plus and global hedged programs.

Prior to joining Commonfund, Mr. De Monico was Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for Citigroup Alternative Investments, where he managed $2 billion in hedge fund investments for eight diversified multi-strategy and single-strategy funds. Prior to that, he was Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for CDC Investment Management Corp., a subsidiary of Caisse Des Depots Group. He managed mortgage hedge positions and relative value Treasury strategies for eight mortgage-backed securities funds with about $2 billion in assets. Nicholas also built and managed a global fixed income fund, managed Proprietary Trading and Treasury, and was Director of Dollar/Non-Dollar arbitrage for CDC Capital.

Mr. De Monico earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia College.
