Commonfund Capital Announces Three Promotions and Two New Additions to its Investment Team
Appointments Reinforce Private Capital Investment Management Worldwide 

WILTON, CT, January 28, 2013 – Commonfund, a prominent investment manager for institutional investors, today announced three promotions and two additions to Commonfund Capital, Inc., its wholly owned subsidiary investing in global private equity, venture capital and natural resources.

Commonfund Capital is very pleased to announce the following three promotions:

  • Leenong Li to Managing Director.  Leenong heads Commonfund Capital’s Beijing office and Asian initiatives.  Leenong joined Commonfund Capital in 2010.
  • Managing Director Mark Hoeing, who has led Commonfund Capital’s London office since 2009, now has the added title of Head of Europe.  Mark joined Commonfund in 2005.
  • Managing Director Brijesh Jeevarathnam, who joined Commonfund Capital in 2006, is now co-head of Venture Capital.

Both Mark and Brijesh will participate on the Commonfund Capital investment committee with observer status and join investment committee members: President & CEO Sue Carter, CFO & Treasurer Linda Costa, and Managing Directors Peter Burns, Greg Jansen, Don Pascal and Kent Scott.

Commonfund Capital is also pleased to announce two additions to its investment team.

  • Tim Yates rejoined Commonfund Capital as a Managing Director, a new position responsible for portfolio construction of its separate /custom accounts. Tim joined Commonfund Capital’s rotational analyst program in 2000, and was part of Commonfund’s Strategic Solutions team for the last ten years.
  • Dave Jensen joins as an Associate Director, a new position focusing on private equity.  Dave comes to Commonfund Capital from Portfolio Advisors, where he specialized in due diligence on private equity, venture capital and emerging markets opportunities.

In recognition of his outstanding work overseeing Commonfund Capital’s growth in Asia and serving as Chief Representative of Commonfund’s Beijing Office, Leenong Li has been promoted to Managing Director.  Leenong joined Commonfund Capital in 2010 to help establish Commonfund Capital’s Asia office in Beijing where he has been responsible for growing the firm’s presence in this key market. Additionally, Leenong played an instrumental role in bringing the first-ever Commonfund Endowment Institute Investment Seminars to China held in October 2012.  Born and raised in China, he has over 25 years’ experience in global private capital investing. From 2004 to 2009, he was the managing director at Jerusalem Venture Partners’ Shanghai office, and a partner at China Broadband Capital. He is presently a member of the advisory boards of several private equity and venture capital limited partnerships.
