Accessing Sustainable Opportunities Through Private Equity Strategies

Institutional investors around the world have appropriately turned their attention to the sustainability of their investment portfolios. Investors have pivoted from discussion to action as generally the questions are no longer whether to invest, but how to most effectively allocate to such investments to earn both a private equity return and make a measurable impact. The last year has only seen an acceleration of activity in this area. The public markets offer good examples with the SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) boom and significant swings in equity pricing around clean energy. Private market activity has also been robust, with the sector evolving to the point where the potential economic returns are no longer concessionary but now in line with broader private equity returns.

In this Commonfund Forum 2022 session, our experts explore the current opportunity set, including sectors such as renewables; food, agriculture, water; and resource efficiency. We also cover sourcing and the varying tactical approaches that may best position investors for success.

Speakers: Emma Tinker, Co-Founder of Asper; Michael Kaplan, Founder at Belltown Farms; Phil Deutch, Founder and Managing Partner at Energy Technology Partners

Moderator: Ethan Levine, Managing Director, Commonfund Capital
