WILTON, CT, November 16, 2020 — Commonfund, a prominent investment manager for endowments, foundations and philanthropic organizations, today announced the promotion of George Suttles to Executive Director of the Commonfund Institute. He will be supported in this new role by Allison Kaspriske, a twenty-year veteran of Commonfund who is joining the Institute as a Director to spearhead programs and research projects.

“George’s leadership and strategic counsel have been critical to the success of the Commonfund Institute over the last two years,” commented Mark Anson, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Commonfund. “Under his guidance, I look forward to the team’s continued work advancing the vital research and education for which long-term investors turn to the Institute. As we look forward to 2021, it is clear the issues of society overlap more and more with the missions and financial goals of our clients. George is the perfect individual to guide both the conscience and the content of the Institute."

As Executive Director, Mr. Suttles will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Institute and its extensive educational, market research and professional development activities. The Institute team is actively developing new research and partnerships that it will be rolling out over the coming months. These programs will address some of the critical topics facing institutional investors in areas like governance, equity and inclusion, responsible investing and more.

“I am honored to lead the Institute at such a pivotal time for mission-based organizations and the investment industry at large,” said Mr. Suttles. “Commonfund Institute is well-established as a leading source of investment knowledge and best practices in governance and financial management, and I look forward to working with Allison to position the Institute for future growth and success.”

Mr. Suttles joined Commonfund Institute in 2018 as Director of Research, bringing with him more than a decade of experience supporting the philanthropic activities of leading nonprofit organizations. He also serves as a member Commonfund’s Diversity and Inclusion Office. Ms. Kaspriske has held a variety of positions with Commonfund over the last two decades, most recently as a part of the Marketing team managing research initiatives and the Investment Stewardship Academy.
