Mark Anson is head of Commonfund, Chief Investment Officer, and the Chairman of the Boards of Commonfund Capital, Inc. and Commonfund Asset Management Company, Inc.  Previously, he was the President and Chief Investment Officer for the Bass Family Office, which was recognized as Family Office of the Year for 2014 and 2015. He was the President of Nuveen Investments, a full-service asset management company with over $250 billion in assets under management. Prior to Nuveen, Mark served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer for the British Telecom Pension Scheme (“BTPS”), the largest institutional investor in the UK with assets of £65 billion. In addition, Mark was the CEO of Hermes Pensions Management in London, a £55 billion asset management company that is wholly owned by the BTPS. Prior to joining BTPS, he served as the Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, the largest pension fund in the United States with over $300 billion in assets. Mark is currently on the Committee of the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust. He also serves on the Editorial Board of MSCI-Barra, the Board of the Northwestern University School of Law, the Toigo Foundation, and the Board of the Chartered Alternative Investment Association. He is a past member of the Board of Governors for the CFA Institute. Mark has published over 100 investment articles in professional journals and has won three Best Paper Awards. He is also the author of five financial textbooks including the Handbook of Alternative Assets, which is the primary textbook used for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst program. Mark earned a B.A. in Economics and Chemistry from St. Olaf College, a Ph.D. and Masters in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, all with honors. He has also received several industry awards in recognition of his leadership in asset management. Last, Mark has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Certified Public Accountant, and Chartered Global Management Accountant professional degrees, and he is a member of the Bar of the State of New York.

Celeste R. Barone oversees the financial management of Commonfund, creating and maintaining all financial policies and procedures of the firm, including financial planning, reporting, investment valuations, cash management, registration filings, and annual audits and tax returns. Celeste has over 25 years’ experience managing the finance and operations affairs of private capital and asset managers. She serves as a member of the Commonfund Operating Committee. Prior to joining Commonfund, Celeste was Managing Director of Finance and Chief Compliance Officer for Pomona Capital, a global private capital firm that specializes in purchasing secondary interests in existing partnerships as well as investing in primary funds and co-investments alongside private equity funds in individual companies. Previously, Celeste held financial management positions within the investment management divisions of LyonRoss Capital, Dillon, Read & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert. She holds a B.A. in Business Communications and Business Administration from Baruch College and is a Board Member of the Financial Executives Alliance.

Peter Burns is the President & CEO of Commonfund Capital. His responsibilities include oversight of due diligence, manager selection and investment management for the firm’s private capital Primary, Secondary, Co-investment, and Distressed capital programs. Peter is a member of the Investment Committee of Commonfund Capital and member of the Operating Committee of Commonfund. He has 27 years of investment, corporate finance, and lending experience. Prior to joining Commonfund, Peter worked as a Vice President of Taglich Brothers, a New York-based investment bank and brokerage firm. Prior to this, he was an associate in the Leveraged Funding Group of Heller Financial. He is presently a member of the advisory boards of several private capital limited partnerships. Peter received a B.A. in Economics from St. Lawrence University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Columbia Business School.

Keith W. Luke is responsible for firm-wide client relationship management and business development. In this capacity, he and his team provide OCIO and private capital solutions to nonprofits and public sector investors. He is President of Commonfund Securities, Inc., the firm’s registered broker-dealer subsidiary, and is also responsible for managing Commonfund's marketing, and for overseeing educational programs and research in concert with Commonfund Institute. He serves as a member of the Commonfund Operating Committee. Prior to joining Commonfund, Keith was in commercial banking for 19 years, most recently at Citibank, where he held a number of marketing and strategic planning positions in The Private Bank and Corporate Bank. Prior to Citibank, he was with HSBC USA (formerly Marine Midland Bank) in corporate finance and investment banking. Keith earned a B.A. in Economics at Duke University and an M.B.A. in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business.

Elaine Mizer is responsible for executing Commonfund’s business and strategic plan from a human capital perspective. Elaine leads Commonfund’s human resources practice to develop talent and leverage it effectively for consistency with our business strategy and plans for growth while overseeing all other human resources functions and facilities management. She serves as a member of the Commonfund Operating Committee. Prior to Commonfund, Elaine was Head of Human Resources and Administration at Aquiline Capital Partners. Prior to joining Aquiline, she spent four years with Citigroup in Human Resources supporting the investment bank. Elaine earned a B.A. degree in Human Resources from Western Connecticut State University.

Dana Moreau has firm-wide oversight and responsibility for risk management. Prior to overseeing risk management, Dana was with Commonfund’s Hedge Fund Strategies Group sharing responsibility for portfolio analysis, manager identification, due diligence, and investment monitoring.  His primary focus during this time was on portfolio construction, risk management and the operational oversight of the funds. As a member of the Hedge Fund Strategies Group he led the effort to implement a research management system and oversaw the onboarding of an external risk engine, each of which are now utilized firm-wide. Prior to joining Commonfund, Dana worked at State Street Bank & Trust where his primary responsibilities were portfolio accounting and administration for the bank’s hedge fund clients. He has a B.A. in Economics from Assumption College and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Sharad Samy serves as General Counsel of Commonfund. Prior to Commonfund, he was the General Counsel of Aladdin Capital Holdings LLC, a global hedge fund with $22 billion assets under management at its peak with a registered investment advisor and registered broker-dealer subsidiary. Prior to joining Aladdin, Sharad was a partner of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP in its Financial Markets Group, resident in its London and New York offices. He has worked extensively in both London and New York and has covered cross-border transactions involving jurisdictions in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia for offerings in the United States and European capital markets. From 1997 through 2008, Sharad was a Judge Advocate for the U.S. Army Reserve, having served in the Horn of Africa in connection with Operation Enduring Freedom and leaving the service with the rank of Major. In addition to his professional activities, Sharad is a member of the board of directors of The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut and is a friend of the board of directors of A Better Chance, Darien. He is also the Judge Advocate for Post 6933 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Sharad is a graduate of Columbia College with A.B. in Political Science and received a J.D. from Columbia University Law School and he is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and the State of New York.

Timothy T. Yates, Jr. is a Managing Director and responsible for custom solutions for clients across public and private markets. In this role, he leads a team of investment professionals that advise, implement and monitor custom investment solutions. He is also a senior member of the firm’s private emerging markets portfolio leadership team with a particular focus on Latin America. Tim joined Commonfund as an associate in the Commonfund Capital Associate Program. He later joined the Strategic Solutions Group, Commonfund’s OCIO platform, where he was responsible for the design, tailoring and implementation of total portfolio solutions. Before joining Commonfund, Tim was an instructor of Spanish and Italian at Fordham Preparatory School. He holds an M.B.A. in Finance with a designation in International Business from Fordham University and a B.A. in Modern Languages from Trinity College. Regan Arntz-Gray is a quantitative analyst on the Research and Analytics team. She works on manager and portfolio analysis as well as on the research and development of quantitative models. Prior to joining Commonfund, Regan completed a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Guelph, where she developed original research on the economic implications of climate change for agricultural yields; she also coordinated a World Bank research study in Malawi to improve food security through the introduction of mobile payment systems. Regan has a BSc in Mathematics from Queen’s University and an MSc in Economics from the University of Guelph.

Before joining Commonfund, Kris was a proprietary trader at both Andover L.L.C. and A.B. Watley, where he managed relative value equity strategies. Prior to his experiences as a trader, he was a stockbroker at Smith Barney. James F. Meisner is a member of the Investment team and shares responsibility for asset allocation, manager sourcing, due diligence, and investment monitoring for fixed income and hedge fund portfolios. Prior to joining Commonfund, he spent twelve years at RBS Greenwich Capital, where he was Managing Director and head of research for the Portfolio Strategies Group. Prior to that, he was head of futures and options research at Yamaichi America and at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. Jim began his business career at the Chicago Board of Trade, where he was involved in the introduction of options on bond futures. Earlier, he was an Instructor in Statistics at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (now the Booth School of Business). He received an AB in mathematics and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago, and he completed coursework and examinations for a Ph.D. in econometrics as well.

Roman began his career at Deloitte as an auditor in the financial services group. Ivo Nenin is a member of the Investment team and is focused on developing forecasts for asset class return and volatility, creating macroeconomic dashboards for tactical asset allocation and modeling client portfolios. Ivo previously assisted in managing Commonfund’s commodities program and as a fund analyst focused on valuation and reporting for the commodities and equity funds. Prior to Commonfund, Ivo worked at AIG in their Domestic Brokerage Treasury Department. Ivo earned an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business in Finance and Management and his B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Bridgeport. David Scarozza is a member of the Investment team and is responsible for constructing portfolios that have the objective of outperforming passive equity alternatives. David is also primarily responsible for Commmonfund’s hedge fund portfolio which is used as a diversifying active risk and alpha source within equity portfolios and in the context of a total portfolio. Prior to this role, David was a Managing Director on the hedge fund team and prior to joining Commonfund, he served as a Vice President and the senior manager analyst on Citigroup′s fund of funds team. David received a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College, completed a one-year program of study at the London School of Economics and received an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Deborah Spalding is Deputy Chief Investment Officer and a Managing Director responsible for the design, tailoring, and implementation of custom investment solutions for Commonfund’s investment advisory clients. Prior to joining Commonfund, she was the Chief Investment Officer for the State of Connecticut’s $30 billion Retirement Plans and Trust Funds. Previously, she was a Managing Partner at Working Lands Investment Partners, LLC, an independent investment management firm that invests in rapidly growing environmental markets. Prior to that, she held a number of executive level positions including Executive Vice President and Head of International Investments for Schroders Investment Management N.A. and Managing Director and Head of International Institutional Investments at Scudder Kemper Investments. She began her career as an equity analyst at SKB & Associates in San Francisco. Deborah received a B.A. in International Relations and Asian Studies from Tufts University and holds graduate degrees from Harvard University, University of California Berkeley and Yale University. She is a past Board Chair and a member of the investment committee of the National Wildlife Federation, and an advisory board member of the Center for Business and the environment at Yale and is a Lecturer in Forest and Ecosystem Finance at Yale.

Paul is a senior member of the Investment team with specific responsibility for overseeing real asset strategies and private real estate investments. He is primarily responsible for real estate investments, asset allocation recommendations, portfolio oversight, manager selection and tactical rebalancing. Prior to joining Commonfund, Paul was a Vice President in the consulting division of Wilshire Associates, where he advised institutional investors. Paul was also the Chair of Wilshire’s Hedge Fund Committee, where he was responsible for conducting research and providing advice on the selection of hedge fund managers. Prior to Wilshire, Paul worked in equity research for Waddell & Reed Asset Management. He also spent five years with the Instinet Group as Manager of the Global Correspondent Trading Group. Paul earned a M.B.A in Finance from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and a B.S. from Rutgers University. While in Dallas, she was an Assistant Vice President and analyst with Westwood Management, a large-cap value fund with over $4 billion in assets under management. At Westwood, she was responsible for industry/company analysis and issuing stock recommendations across multi-cap products. Prior to Harvard, he spent four years with RBS Greenwich Capital in risk roles analyzing financial institutions and the asset-backed finance business. Prior to joining Aladdin, Sharad was a partner of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP in its Financial Markets Group, resident in its London and New York offices. He has worked extensively in both London and New York and has covered cross-border transactions involving jurisdictions in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia for offerings in the United States and European capital markets. John S. Griswold, advises Commonfund’s educational, market research and professional development activities as Founder of Commonfund Institute. John joined Commonfund as head of Client Services in 1992. John initiated and has supervised the NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments (NCSE) and the Commonfund Benchmarks Studies® of the performance of educational endowments, foundations, operating charities and healthcare institutions, which collectively survey the investment performance and practices of over 1400 nonprofit institutions annually. In addition, he supervises and speaks at Commonfund’s annual Endowment Institute, Commonfund Forum, monthly Trustee Roundtables and nonprofit and investment industry conferences in the U.S., Europe and Canada. John has authored many articles and book chapters on endowment management, governance and the management of investment committees. John is a member of numerous non-profit boards and investment committees, including the board of trustees of BoardSource, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the Greenwich Roundtable, the National Business Officers Association (NBOA) and the Regional Plan Association of New York. He is a graduate of Yale University.

Cathleen M. Rittereiser leads Commonfund’s educational, market research and professional development activities as Executive Director of Commonfund Institute.  She is the co-author of the books Foundation and Endowment Investing and Top Hedge Fund Investors: Stories, Strategies, and Advice. Prior to joining Commonfund, Cathleen was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Uncorrelated, LLC, a conference and thought leadership publishing platform for endowment, foundation and pension investors, and a frequent speaker and writer on the endowment model and Outsourced CIO (OCIO).  Prior to Uncorrelated, she spearheaded an annual endowment and foundation conference as the Executive Director of Institutional Investor’s conference division, and held investor relations and marketing roles with leading financial services firms and hedge funds.  She received an A.B. from Franklin & Marshall College, where she served on the investment committee, and an M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business.

Toni Boucher is a member of the Marketing team and is responsible for supporting the development of asset management mandates across endowments and foundations, healthcare organizations and public pensions. Prior to joining Commonfund, Toni has held executive positions in the areas of sales, marketing and management at General Electric and UAL/Westin International. She was also a co-founder and served on the Board of a marketing design agency specializing in biogenetic, aerospace and leading edge computer applications and was a principal of a mainframe software maintenance and consulting company. In addition, Toni currently serves as an Assistant Minority Leader of the Connecticut General Assembly on Education, Transportation and Housing Committees. Toni holds a M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut in International Marketing.

David Claiborn shares responsibility for responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), and responding to consultant requests. David is also responsible for creating new RFP responses and editing existing content. Prior to joining Commonfund, he was a Vice President and Senior Marketing and Branding Specialist at Barclays, and was responsible for writing and distributing weekly highlights, crafting and refining content, and internal education. Before joining Barclays, he was Vice President and Senior Client Service Specialist at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, where he focused on servicing Institutional clients, writing commentaries and content for RFPs, and reviewing collateral. Previously, he was a Vice President and Product Manager for the Systematic team at Bear Stearns Asset Management, serving as a liaison between the portfolio management team and clients. David also held an Investment Specialist role at Citigroup Asset Management and eventually Legg Mason, and RFP positions at Deutsche Asset Management and Diversified Investment Advisors. David holds an M.B.A. in Marketing and a B.S. in Business Administration from Iona College.

She works on advertisements, brochures and tradeshow displays working with print and production professionals. Prior to joining Commonfund, Jennifer worked in finance at Toyota and Lexus Financial Services where she worked for over eight years. She has an A.A.S. in Visual Communications from Katherine Gibbs College and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Graphic Design from Southern New Hampshire University.

Lydia Hechter is a member of the Marketing team and manages the team responsible for responding to Requests for Proposals, completing quarterly update requests and maintaining consultant databases. Early on in her career, Lydia spent five years at Lazard Asset Management as a VP of Central Marketing, responsible for all requests for proposals, due diligence questionnaires and maintenance and population of a number of consultant databases. From Lazard, Lydia moved on to Citigroup Asset Management and eventually Legg Mason where she spent six years in various roles with responsibility for the RFP function/team as well as execution and delivery of quarterly product commentaries for over 75 mutual funds and the firm’s separately managed equity, fixed income, fund-of-funds and quantitative strategies for both institutional and public clients. Lydia spent time at Oxford University studying Writing and Psychology and earned a B.A. in Writing and Developmental Psychology from Sarah Lawrence College.

Tony Ialeggio is responsible for the development and execution of firm-wide marketing strategies and branding. Prior to joining Commonfund, Tony was Executive Vice President, Director of Global Marketing at Cohen & Steers where he had overall responsibility for branding, communications, marketing strategy and product management. Prior to Cohen & Steers, he spent ten years at AllianceBernstein, where he was a Managing Director and held a number of marketing, planning and product management positions. Tony has twenty years of professional experiences and has a B.A. in Political Science from Tulane University.

Joseph Agovino is responsible for the cost accounting, portfolio reconciliation, performance and client reporting for our strategic clients.  Prior to joining Commonfund, Joseph worked as a fund accountant and operations manager for SS&C Globe OP and spent several years as a controller with UBS.  Joseph received a BBA from Iona College where he majored in Accounting.  He also holds the Certified Public Accountant designation within the state of New York.

Prior to that, she was a Fund & Client Service Associate at Bridgewater Associates in Westport, CT as well as a Private Client Associate at AllianceBernstein. Amy Harlacker heads the Investor Services team and is focused on providing operational leadership and direction and manages the implementation of the organization’s strategic plans and initiatives. Previously Amy led the team responsible for delivering full middle office operational support and service to Strategic Solutions clients. Amy has also held a series of analytical roles within the Commonfund organization across the Operations, Client Service and Information Technology groups. Prior to joining Commonfund, Amy was a business analyst at Energy East Corporation. Amy holds an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.

Wendy Hopkinson is responsible for financial analysis and reporting for Commonfund. Wendy has over 25 years of experience in financial operations. Prior to her current role, Wendy was a Director in Fund Accounting at Commonfund. Before joining Commonfund, she held various positions within the financial operation departments at Mellon Bank in Boston, LIT Europe, and Blade Investments in London. Wendy received a B.S. in Accounting from Northeastern University and an M.B.A., with a concentration in finance, from Scared Heart University.

Prior to Commonfund, she held various managerial positions within the financial and sales/marketing departments at R.C. Bigelow and at People’s Bank managing the Electronic Funds Transfer Department. Donna received a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.B.A., with a concentration in marketing, from the University of New Haven.
